Friday's Photo Finish Fiesta

Join in for Candid Carrie's Phriday's Photo Phinish Phiesta....

This week my foto is all about the vacuum cord.

The vacuum cord, leaving it out drives my husband crazy. I never wrap it up because I know that in 24 hours or less I am going to be using the vacuum again. I would say I am a bit OCD with the vacuuming in my house. Anyway, we go round and round about the cord. He gets so mad at me for leaving it strung out across the floor because he steps on it. My response to him is, “step over it” . I find it funny but he doesn’t.

Then to agitate me he will wrap up the cord but not the way you are supposed to by putting it on the two little hooks on the back. No he warps it around his arms then hangs it over the top. This tends to tangle the cord really bad, hence ticking me off.

I bet we have this little battle and argument 4 or 5 times a week. It will never end because I am not wrapping up the cord (unless someone is coming over) and he is going to keep stepping on it just so he can complain. In all honesty I think this has become a battle of wills. We will be 90 and still having this argument over the vacuum cleaners cord….LOL.

So do you have something that you go back and forth about with your husband? Something that neither of you are willing to give an inch on?

Now that you have answered my question, go check out Candid Carrie and everyone else plying along today.

Aloha Friday #6

Play along at An Island Life for Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response. If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at An Island Life. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!
My question this week…..

If you had the chance once get all dressed up in something formal and fancy for a party would you be excited or would you rather have the party and skip all the formal stuff?

I asked this question this week because I have a formal party next Friday and for some reason this year I am not excited to get all dressed up.
In past years I have been thrilled because I go out get a dress (hubby buys), new shoes, hair done, the works. I buy some cute dress similar to the one shown and have a great night out. Then we go to the party, get a hotel room and really enjoy our grown up night (no kids).
But this year I just don’t want to do it. I want the night out but I don’t want to get dressed up at least not this year.
Maybe I don't like the idea of wearing a dress because the weather is getting so cold. Maybe I am feeling this way because I don’t have a new dress and I don’t want to go shopping. Yes, I know that is crazy but really I don’t want to.
I should probably be out shopping and not blogging right now because my formal night is coming rather I am ready for it or not. Wish me luck!!!

Thursday Thirteen (Baby toys or so he thinks)

Thirteen things that my 1 year old thinks are toys but mom disagrees.

1. The VCR/DVD player.

This sits low on an open shelf in the play room and I have had to remove blocks and other items from the inside of the VCR part. He thinks it is so fun stuffing things in this door.
2. The Remote Control

This is one that he loves to smash on the floor. It has split apart a few times now but so far we have been lucky and been able to snap it back together.

3. Any Telephone that actually dials.

Rather it is a cell phone or the house phone this is one of his favorites. I am amazed we have not dialed 911 yet.

4. The sock drawers

I have these little drawers that sit on the changing table that I keep all his socks in. Of course the socks are always scattered all over the floor because he thinks it is cute throwing them every where. (His brother did the same thing when he was a baby.)

5. Stair steps are the ultimate jungle gym.

If the gate is open he is climbing the steps. Our gate makes noise any time someone opens it and he get sp excited to here that noise he heads right for the steps.

6. The TV Tray

Another great item for climbing on. After his brother has breakfast he can’t wait to climb on top and play around. I hate when he stands on it the most.

7. Big brothers markers

If he can find even one he is chewing on it and has a fit when it is taken away. He has also recently learned that the caps come off. I didn't take a picture the day his face was all covered in blue.

8. The curio cabinet

In the entry way has this cabinet of nice breakable things and my baby just loves to open it up and play with the things on the bottom shelf. We have had to do some moving around so he can't break anything.

9. The water cooler

It is so much fun pulling the knob and running the water all over the floor. Thank goodness the hot water is child proof.

10. The dogs water bowl

If the water cooler is blocked we will just go around the corner and play in the dog’s water bowl instead. Then when we have finished a few seconds of splashing we will pick it up and dump it all over the floor.

11. The trash can/recyclable bin

Lots of goodies to be found in this cabinet where these dirty things are kept.

12. The toilet paper roll

Isn’t it great unrolling it all over the floor. I have found entire rolls on the floor. You should see how cute it looks after I roll it back up.

13. The volume knob on the stereo

The best toy in the house. We either can’t here the TV because he keeps turning it down or he scares the beegesies out of himself when he turns it up so load the neighbors can hear it. Of course we can't control it from the remote because he has broken it.

I swear I spend all day keeping this boy out of trouble. I can't wait for Christmas, the tree will be another fun one to deal with.

The Bottle is the Enemy…

My baby has declared the bottle his enemy.

I have been nursing my baby since the day he was born and I had the ultimate goal of nursing him until he turned one year. I am proud to say I reached my goal when my baby turned one on October 26th.

He nursed the first four months solid and I never really gave him a bottle because I was at home with him. I think this was a huge mistake on my part. When I returned to work this child refused to eat a bottle for anyone. This was a nightmare. I cried because my baby wasn’t eating and I felt like this awful parent. Then I was up all night feeding baby because he was eating at night to make up for what he wouldn’t eat during the day. Finally after a couple weeks he changed his mind and started eating from a bottle. My sitter found lots of ways to trick him and get him to eat. She was great, the grandmas were not so lucky and he still gives them a hard time when they babysit.

Since that time I have never been able to get him to take a bottle at home and especially from me. He will cry and throw a fit until he gets to nurse. I don’t get to share the night shift with my husband because he refuses the bottle. So for the past year I always do the night shift and it sucks.

Now Thomas is one and I am ready to start cutting back on the nursing and have him take a bottle and drink cows milk. Sounds simple enough right….wrong!!!!

My sweet baby thinks that the battle is his enemy and will toss it onto the floor every time. OK sometimes he plays with it a little but never drinks it. My oldest child was cut off the bottle at one and put on the sippy cup so I thought maybe we should just skip the bottle and go to the cup. I think I have bought every brand and type of cup out their and once again he refuses it.

Don’t get me wrong I loved nursing my baby and I got super thin from it but I am ready to be done. I want to enjoy an ice cold Diet Coke everyday and coffee chocked full of caffeine in the morning instead of this decaf crap I have been drinking. I am not trying to stop baby from nursing over night but I am trying to let my milk down gradually and bring this to an end at a nice pace. This child is so stubborn that I am scared I will be feeding him until he is two. My husband comment, “why get your drink out of a bottle when the tap version is so much better”. He is no help and finds it all funny.

So I need help! Does anyone have any suggestions or tips on how to get this baby to stop nursing and switch to a bottle or cup? Any suggestions or ideas are welcome because I have run out of ideas.

I have been tagged

I was tagged by Pink Stinx, thanks Tammy! I always enjoy reading Tammy's blogs. Now I'm supposed to share 6 random things about me and pass the honor onto 6 other bloggy friends. I love all the blogs that I read and hate choosing. But first here are my six random things that most of you probably don't know about me.

1. I am a little ocd with the vacuum cleaner. I sweep my floors every day. I can't stand seeing dog hair on the floor or anything else for that matter.

2. I am a very nervous mother who is afraid of anything and everything that could happen to my kids. Because I am this way I really control what I let my kids do.

3. I love my Church that I go to. I became a born again Christian about 3 years ago and was baptized at that time. Church has been a little tough for me that last couple months with my youngest son. He makes it so difficult to go and listen. I have felt very out of touch and hopefully the tide will turn on this one soon.

4. I love chocolate and could eat it 24/7.

5. I am probably one of the biggest Lost fan's you will meet. I go crazy over this show and can't wait for it's return in January.

6. I know you all know I am a working mom and would rather be at home with my kids. What do I do everyday when I leave my kids at school and the sitter, well I go into my own office and manage our companies marketing. I do everything from advertising, catalogs, our website, and so on... Someday I would like to start my own business working out of my home doing these things for various companies who would hire me.

Now to choose 6 of my friends, well you all know that I love each and everyone of you and this is a hard choice. I tried not to pick anyone who I choose last time. Also please don't feel as though you have to play along. This is for fun and I understand if you don't want to do this.
