My friend Peanut does these amazing 5 Things Thursday. I have played along a few times but here lately I haven’t been able to think of anything. Now what I mean is I could do the easy stuff but I like to do as Peanut does and choose things that are not always the easiest to find the good qualities about them, humble myself and remind myself that there is good in every situation. Last week Peanut did one about her kids sharing a bed room and this gave me an idea for my 5 Things Thursday. So this week I am going to find the 5 Things I love about sharing a bed room with my 18 month old.
We have a very little house and it has only two bedrooms. When I was pregnant we upgraded Luke from a toddler bed to bunk beds for his bed room and praying that we were going to have another boy who could share a room with his brother when he got a little older. That part came true and the bunk beds were not a waist. Now while the bunk beds are great for the future we still had a baby and a bed room to small for the two boys to share. The crib was not going to fit into Luke’s room and this meant that Thomas was going to have to be in our bedroom. This really was no big deal to me because when Luke was a baby our upstairs wasn’t done and the office downstairs was used as a bedroom for all of us and we had a crib in our room back then also. So here are my 5 reasons for loving sharing my room with my babies.
1. When Thomas wakes up in the middle of the night I hear him right away and it takes me three steps from the bed to the crib to get him. I will often let him fuss and squirm for a bit but I can always tell when he has reached his limit and I have to get up and get him.
2. There is nothing better in the morning than waking up to a happy smiling little boy who is leaning over the rail of his crib calling out for you. I don’t think he would have as pleasant of an attitude in the mornings if he was alone in a room.
3. Neither boy when they were babies had a room of their own. Because I never had a bedroom for either of my babies I never had a nursery to decorate. This was a little tough for me because every mom wants to have a cute nursery to decorate. The blessing about not having a nursery, I didn’t spend a bunch of money on things that I didn’t really need in the first place. It saved me a lot of money.
4. I don’t have to go far to check on him at night when I am worried about him. As a mother I worry so much and it is so easy to just do a quick check.
5. When I put Thomas to bed I always put him in his crib awake and he will play for a bit and then fall asleep. He is fine with putting himself to sleep as long as I stay in the room. So I put him to bed and lay down on my bed and just relax and process my day. It is great quiet time for me and when he really isn’t ready to go to sleep yet I get to enjoy a little giggle time with him.
Here is a little sample of some of that giggle time. I will say I normally don't interact with him like this but I had the camera so I had too.
Sorry for the dark picture, the lights were dimmed down low.

Sharing A Bedroom

It’s stuck!!
Thomas is my child who loves to go outside, and if someone is going out a door he is following them. If someone stops him or brings him back inside he has a serious melt down. Until Saturday he could not open a door on his own but he has now learned how to make his great escape.
Thomas found that the back door is very easy to open unfortunately I can not use the deadbolt to keep him in either. When my husband put in our new door the wall was so crooked that the deadbolt would not line up correctly and can not be used.
So Saturday I could not keep Thomas out of the kitchen. He would stand by the door waiting for his opportunity to pop it open and say bye-bye and out he would go. After 50 plus times of chasing him down and running him out of the kitchen I had enough.
One quick trip to Wally World and a $3 child proof door knob cover and our problems are solved. Now Thomas stands at the door twirling the knob and saying… "stuck, stuck, stuck…" Yes, mommy got it stuck!!!
Go visit Angie at 7 Clown Circus for more great Wordful Wednesday post.

Take Me Back ...
OK so I just took this photo on Saturday but it did take me back in time. As my son decided to wrap himself all up in toilet paper he took my mind way back to the 1980’s when I was a kid and the head band and wrist and ankle bands were in style for working out. I laughed at these thoughts and all I kept think of was Olivia Newton John and her song Get Physical. The scary part is my mom probably has a picture of me somewhere in some goofy get-up just like this but wearing the real stuff and not toilet paper.

In Luke’s defense this was not his thoughts of his toilet paper get up but he was telling me he was a ninja. Either way it was pretty fun!

I won an amazing prize. Jen at T-Rex Mom & Dad Tales loves to sew and she makes some amazing things. You should see the cute outfits she makes her little boy. So I won last month’s prize and she made me these really cute hand bags. There are three of them all together. One is a little bag great for a quick trip and needing something small, the other is a tiny bag that holds the larger bag that is this great tote.

Motivate Me Monday
Time again for another round of Motivate Me Monday. Play along; share your favorite exercise and/or diet tips and tricks. Tell us what gets you motivated and moving in your everyday life.
All of a sudden I am totally motivated. I have been working out like a mad woman this past week. For me I believe the motivation is the fact that in 3 weeks we are going on vacation and I am going to have to wear a swim-suit. I have never been one who likes to wear a swim suite. I am an extremely self conscious person. I don’t care about what my actual weight is, I have never been one to measure my body based on what a scale says. I look at my shape and what is happening with my body that way. Right now I am in horrible shape but I am working on it. For me right now I am hitting the weights hard, and doing a lot of core work. I hate crunches they feel like a waist of time so I am all about core work.
I have also made a major discovery…. Something I have heard, over and over again but never really listened to it. The recovery drink, I use to think this was just a gimmick to get people to buy stuff they don’t need. I am a person that hates supplements, and all the other crap that everyone thinks will work miracles for them. It just seems unhealthy to me to put stuff in our bodies that was man made and is not natural. However I have found that if I drink a glass of milk and add protein to my milk I recover much faster and my muscles are not a total mess for days. I love to push a work out really hard but then I suffer for days after words with really sore achy muscles. Because I end up so sore I don’t push myself as hard, but if I push it really hard and then have my protein I hurt but I am not in serious can’t move kind of pain.
So tell me what do you think of all the diet products and supplements on the market today? Are you a slave to the scale or do you ignore it and focus on a health appearance?
Play along, get motivated and enjoy a health life. As always support each other in our efforts.
