My Funny Kid

Luke is the funniest kid and he also has a little bit of a stubborn streak. I know he gets this from me so it just drives me that much more crazy when he starts being stubborn over something.

Last week was his first day of latch-key and I told him I would give him a dollar for some milk. One of his friends also goes to the morning latch-key and his mom told me he always gets breakfast. I knew that Luke would want to follow his friend through the line so I gave him a dollar for milk.

Luke: “Mommy, I don’t want milk”.

Me: “I am sure you will want to get milk so put the dollar in your pocket.”

Luke: “No, I won’t.”

Me: “Please put it in your pocket because I know you will.”

Luke: “No mommy I won’t.”

Me: “OK, then take the dollar and keep it and don’t buy milk. You will have it in your pocket if you change your mind.”

Luke: “Mommy I am not going to change my mind.” If only you could here the frustration in his tone.

Fast forward to noon when I am picking him up.

Me: “How was latch-key this morning?”

Luke: “Good, I bought chocolate milk mommy and it was good. Tomorrow I want breakfast.”

First I have to fight with him knowing he will want to go through the line and now he has and he wants to upgrade to breakfast. I know my kids way to well….

This child loves going to latch-key because of breakfast... go figure

The funnies of a 5 year old

My son Luke seems to be a very witty and funny kid. He keeps me in stitches regularly with his comments and his choices of words. The other day we are in the car after his t-ball game. He received his game snack and it was the Yo-Go’s yogurt. Now Luke does not like yogurt and I didn’t think he would eat these. He opens them up and takes a bite and here is what happens next:

Luke…. "Wooo! I didn’t see that coming. Those are surprisingly good."

Now we are just cracking up in the car because of how he says this. Now, I was surprised by his choice of words. Later I figured out exactly where he got these crazy words. On TV there is a commercial for KFC and a girl tries there chicken wings and says this very saying.

I think my son has had a little too much TV time here recently. It was still very funny to me.

Daily funny from a 5 year old

I know as a mom the thing I enjoy most is when my son Luke has something funny or witty to say. Sometimes I can’t laugh because it comes out at a time when he is in trouble. I still laugh but it comes out later when I share it with someone else.

Yesterday, Luke was not listening to me. I kept telling him to pick up his toys and he just wouldn’t listen. I stopped him and said “will you please turn on your listening ears and do what I ask”.

Luke looks at me and says “I can’t turn on my listening ears because I forgot to put the batteries in”.

Explain to me how a 5 year old can have such wit and be so funny.

Please share some of your funny stories about your kids with me. I know my 5 year old isn’t the only young child full of wit and humor. Everyone needs a good laugh!
