BABY PICTURES

My boys are such cuties but I would like to say they didn't get anything from me in the looks department. They look so much like their father and nothing like me.

I found a baby photo of me just to show you, they really didn't get anything from me.

I know this isn't the best photo because I had to scan it. I believe my mom said I was around 7 months old in this picture.

Here is Thomas.....(around 6 months old)

Here is Luke..... (around 6 months old)
I will say looking at these photos Thomas does have a few of my features.
They defiantly didn't get that beautiful dark hair that I had.

Of course I didn't keep that dark hair either.
I will say as for personality, Thomas is spot on with me and Luke spot on with his dad.
Any guesses who I struggle with more? (Thomas)
I guess we all need someone like us, right?

FYI... Thomas took this photo.
My two year old is on his way to becoming a professional photographer.

Soccer

Soccer is one of those sports that I think some kids can really enjoy. Our local YMCA starts letting kids play at the age of 3. While it is pretty funny to watch "heard ball" at the age of three it is still very cute.

Luke started playing soccer at the age of three.

Here he is on his first ever soccer team.
While he wanted to play soccer, their was a lot more silly going on than playing soccer. Lots of grass and flower picking took place.
Even as Luke got older we still seemed to do a lot of grass picking on the soccer field.

Luke played on two orange teams. This one was in the fall of 2008 and Luke was 5. This was the season that dad coached and one of Luke's friends played on the team also. With the hope that having a friend would help him play better, we were so wrong. These two boys spent more time doing cart-wheels and bending over and looking between their legs at each other. Total silliness was taking place on the soccer field. It was at this moment we thought, he just isn't in to soccer and it is time to throw in the towel.
In the fall of 2009 Luke asked us if he could play soccer. Our first question to him was do you really want to play? Will you play? He said yes, so we signed him up.

This season it was 5 & 6 year old's and he got it. Finally we reached the point where we are not picking grass, etc...

This spring the age group changed. We signed up again but now it is 7 to 9 years of age. Luke is the smallest kid on his team. However he is the smallest he is still playing really well.
While I wouldn't call Luke a pro at soccer, not even close, he is out playing and having a good time. Plus he wants to play....

Just the other night he scored the first goal of the game. Then he got tired and ran out of steam but still did great.
While I love the character that the YMCA builds in kids and instills good sportsmanship. This will be our last time playing for the YMCA. This time they only had three teams so the kids just continue to play each other over and over again. In this area we have a city league for Soccer and it is much more popular with the older kids. Since we know Luke wants to play and we see hope in him we will be switch to the city league in the fall.

Now the big question, do we let Thomas play when he turns three? He already wants to get out and play with his brother at the games.

What age did or will you put your kids in group activities?

ITS ALL ABOUT THE HATS

Hats, Thomas just loves them. They don't have to fit, they don't have to be his but he will gladly wear just about any hat.

When I say he will wear just about any hat. I am not speaking just of the cute little ball cap type hats. It is rear we wear this type of hat. Oh no, this is not the preferred type of hat.

Instead, he really loves sock hats.
This one actually belongs to him.

It makes lots of sense to wear a sock hat
outside in the winter time to keep warm.

It doesn't make as much sense to wear them indoors
even though we do often because we love sock hats.

Did I mention, they don't have to fit
and they don't have to belong to him.

He loves his brothers hats!
That is OK because big brother hated this hat
because of the bill on it.
Personally, I think it is cute!

It can be 20 degrees outside or it can be 70 degrees outside.
I can't usually get out of the house without Thomas putting on some type of hat.

Most kids have a favorite stuffed toy or blanket, not Thomas it is all about the hats.
Have your kids been obsessed over something?

FANTASTIC!!!

Sunday night my friend and I went to see Carri Underwood in concert. She was the winner of American Idol 5 years ago (where does the time go) and was my pick way back when to win it. She has been a huge success ever since.

I absolutly love country music and she is part of that and my goodness can this gal sing. I don't know how she can talk after one of her concerts because she has such a powerful voice and she can carry a note for a long time.

While I love her as a country music singer I also love the songs that she sings. I find them very touching and moving all in the same. Her first hit was "Jesus Take the Wheel" and it has just gone on from their. Funny thing when that song came out we had recently be talking in church about how so many people want to be in the drivers seats of our lives but we need to give that control over to Jesus. So fitting!!! Her second album hit me very hard as my cousin a couple years older than I am, 3 kids with one on the way and her husband was killed in an accident. Literatly right after that happened Carries song "Just a Dream" came out. It made me want to cry every time for my cousin who was now faced with raising her children with out their father and one child who will never know his father.

Ok, Ok... enough of the sad stuff. Sorry!

On Sunday April 18th Carrie Underwood won the Artist of the Year award at the Academy of Country Music awards. The only female artist to have ever won this award twice. She won last year also and was the first female artist since the 90's to win this award, beating out some powerhouse male artists.

The song that she currently has that just moves me every time I listen to it is "Temporary Home". If you are not a country music person but want to hear an absolutely beautiful song please listing to this link here (Click here for CMT video of song). At the concert she said she cries about 50% of the time when she sings this song. She didn't cry at the concert I went to but she did cry when she sang it at the awards show and it was so moving for me.

At the concert when she sang it she had this beautiful house on the screen behind her and as she sang this house faded away and fell apart just as all material things will do in our life or after we are gone. It was also very touching.

If you watch the video link sorry, I don't like how it interups the song at the end for the video part of it because by far the best part of this song is the ending.

I would love to know if you are a Carrie fan? If not, are you familiar with her songs? Do you watch American Idol? I haven't watched for a few years (probably since Carrie won actually) but Carrie has been one of my favorites from Idol.
