My Very, Very Old House

This weeks wordfull Wednesday is all about my house. Seven, almost eight years ago we bought a bank repossessed house. This was an old farm house that had been trashed. Our first objective was to gut the place. We tore out everything but the kitchen and that still got a major clean up. Along our journey we found our house has so really cool history. First I would like to say my house says it was built in 1919 we have reason to believe it is older than that. My first photo is a picture of our torn out stairway. We removed all the plaster and lath walls to find this behind a large portion of our house.

What you see is the old style log cabin. Yes that large brown area between the painted wood logs is mud and horse hair. House were not typically built like this after the 1900's. Not to say ours wasn't but it raises a flag.

Now this photo is really cool. Someone had plastered between two boards on a section of our stairway and signed it. Sorry you can't see it to well but it has a name along with the date May 3, 1911. Pretty cool find if you ask me.

This is my stairway today after we put it all back together. Can't even tell all that old stuff is behind my walls.

At the top of my stairway you can see that we have this really cool ledge. It is because our supper thick log cabin walls only go up so high and then the upstairs must have been added on later. Because of this we were able to add this nice ledge and when, ha let me rephrase that if we ever finish our upstairs bathroom we have some cool plans for some wall inserts in their also.

Unusual Napping.... Wordfull Wednesday

This was Spring of 2006. We had just bought a new dog bed for one of the dogs. Luke wasn't sharing and put it on top of our bed and went to sleep. It was a really cute moment!!! I love catching stuff like this on camera.

Wordfull Wednesday

Today's wordfull Wednesday I have a video of Thomas. This is him enjoying his big brothers chocolate milk. Of course once I turned the camera on him he stopped doing the umm, ahh, yum, and keep saying eese (cheese).



Oh and don't mind my video skills. I am not use to doing video on the camera. Sorry!

Wordfull Wednesday

Spring is right around the corner and my dogs are really showing it. They are shedding their winter coats so fast, I can't keep up. Here is a picture of what I vacuum up daily into my Dyson (Pet Hair Version) vacuum.
Seriously I vacuum so much hair I don't know how they have any. But with that said....

My furry friends here are off getting their spa treatments for the day. So when I pick them up in a few hours they will have a lot less hair and smell so much prettier. This makes me and my very tired vacuum very happy!!!

If I get a chance I will post the after photo. Sorry to all Golden Lovers but I hate the hair so much that she is being shaved down.

The Dinning Rooms New Look

Wordfull Wednesday, Luke at 2

I am digging out the old photo's today. This was taken when Luke was 2 years old. He loved Thomas the Train so we took him on the Day Out with Thomas train ride. He loved every moment of it. Yes, that is me in the picture also, not a very good photo but I love the picture of Luke in front of the big sign.

Also he is also holding his puppy Ralphy. Ralphy came from France when his dad went for work when Luke was a baby. Ralphy went everywhere when Luke was two. Luke actually started a puppy trend at the daycare he went to. All of a sudden they all had to have puppies.

This week Luke was home sick for two days with strep throat and I saw him sitting on the couch holding Ralphy. It warmed my heart to know he still needs his puppy. (I wish I had gotten a photo.

For the longest time I thought my boys looked so much a like as babies. Everyone else said I was crazy. I think today Thomas has changed a lot and no longer looks like his older brother. But back then... well you decide.

Last Friday night we were all watching a movie and Thomas laid down on the floor and curled up next to the dog and fell asleep.
