Valentine Swap

Look at the fantastic goodies I received from Kristin. She was my swap partner from the Island Life valentines swap. She sent so many really nice things. I thank her so much for making this a great valentines day.

My husband doesn't celebrate this holiday, he doesn't like to be told that he has to do something nice. LOL... I got use to this long ago.

So since Kristin sent me these great things I am having a wonderful valentines day. Thanks Kristin!!

Aloha Friday

Aloha Friday # 19
Play along at An Island Life for Aloha Friday. In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response. If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at An Island Life. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

My question this week…..
Do you eat your recommended 5 a day of fruits and vegetables?

I recently read something that said it is no longer really 5 a day and should be more like 7 to 9 a day. Surprising I actually do pretty good with this. I do much better in the spring and summer when there is a lot of fresh fruits and veggies but I do pretty good in the winter also. I have learned that many times one meal I can eat two or three servings of the same item in one sitting. Because of that it really is easier than one thinks. A typical serving is so small that I can easily get two servings from just about everything I eat (one little handful just doesn’t cut it for me). I also make a point to eat a banana everyday for breakfast, snack on carats, grapes and raisins during the day. Now I must admit I do much better during the week when I am at work than I do on the weekends at home. At home I tend to snack more on junk but I only take healthy snacks to work so I do a good job eating all of these things.

My co-workers make fun of me because I walk into work everyday with a big bag of food. They don’t understand how I can eat so much everyday.

Now that’s what I call fancy

Yesterday Luke made his valentines box for his kindergarten party today. I wrapped the box with plain white paper and then left it up to him to decorate it.

Here is a picture of the box he made, minus me photo shopping his name out of it. The big blank spot below had his name in many different colors of marker. Sorry I had to photo shop it because I use his nick name for my blog and not his real name.

He covers the box with stickers we got from the valentine cards.

He turns to me and says,

“Now that’s what I call fancy!”

I just laughed because he was so proud of his work. It’s Fancy!!! LOL…

I am editing my post today because I just saw my friend Peanut has started this great thing about the 5 things we love.... So to continue on with my post about Luke earlier here are 5 great things I love about my son Luke!

1. He has a great wit about him that keeps me laughing all the time. Case in point he told his papa last night to give his grandma a wedgy for valentines day. (nice hu!!)

2. He has a heart of gold and would not hurt anything and sympathy cries all the time.

3. He is very much like his father and since I love his dad so much it makes it easy to love Luke that much more.

4. He is so crafty..... (as you can see from the valentine box). He loves stuff like this.

5. Finally he was my first born and is so special to me and always will be. We had a bond that was so great for 5 wonderful years and now he shares me with his little brother and it doesn't phase him a bit.

What's your five things this week? Write a blog post and link up http://weenuts.blogspot.com/ at to join the fun with peanut.

My game boys!!!

There is nothing cuter than watching little brother act like his big brother. My oldest is playing a game and his brother is pretending to play. These make some of the best memories.

Go visit Angie at 7 Clown Circus for more great Wordfull Wednesday post.

The things they say!!

Luke (my 6 year old) has some of the funniest expressions that he says. The other day he wanted a snack and his dad told him he had to wait until after dinner… the response from Luke, “Oh Tarter Sauce” , I guess this is better than some foul word but where did he come up with Tarter sauce? Another great one is “Barnacles”. He says Barnacles all the time. The first time he said it I had no clue where it came from. Then I heard Sponge Bob say it one day and said ahh… that is where that comes from. LOL….

Thomas (my 15 month old) is adding new words to his vocabulary everyday. Right now he loves to walk around and say “hi” to everyone. He will say hi to you 50 times in a row. The big grin when you say high back to him is priceless. Church on Sunday was funny because there is a little girl that is almost a year old that sits two rows behind us. All morning she and Thomas were saying hi back and forth to each other. If you can just picture two toddlers leaning back and forth between the chairs, it was so cute but so loud. It is a good thing I go to a little church and all the people around me just eat this stuff up.
Another one that Thomas needs to work on is want or as he says it wwwwant. If you are in the kitchen he points at the cabinets and says wwwant. This is his way of asking for something… I am working on getting him to say please. I can’t have him running around being demanding and saying want all the time.

Motivate Me Monday

I am doing a horrible job at getting into the whole exercising thing. I come up with every possible reason not to do it. Last week I promised I would do three things and I did one of my three things. I played the Wii sports and Wii fit several times during the week. I have to say if you have ever boxed on one of these… it is a heck of a work out. My arms and shoulders are still hurting and I was sweating up a storm. As for the other two… I failed. Yesterday I put on my work out cloths while the baby was asleep and was all set to work out. Luke was watching Sponge Bob and wouldn’t let me have the TV. I told him I was working out when it was over. I leave the room and come back and he and his dad are playing the Wii. Seriously they are not helping me. My husband promises to let me work out later and he will keep the baby off of me. It never happened….

So I feel like I really failed this week at my workouts. But I had it in my mind all week that I was being watched and needed to do this. So with that said I am not giving up and will try again this week.

Remember when I said I don’t belong to a gym anymore and need to be creative? Well I cleaned out a cabinet full of DVD’s and VHS tapes and found that I have a little problem… its called exercise videos. I own probably a hundred of them…. LOL. This is just another reason why I have no reason to make excuses.

So this week I am taking the Wii out of the equation (will probably do it but not including it here) and I am going to do one of my cardio video’s two days this week and a Pilate’s video at least two days this week. I am also going to run up and down my stairs 10 times every day this week. Trust me this is much harder than you think.

Now if you want to join me in my challenge please do… if not just Wish Me Luck and give me crap when I make excuses to for not getting something done. So if you are joining in choose some form of physical activity to do and set a goal for this week. Let me know you are playing and I will be around to give you my support.

What type of things do you like to do for a good workout?
