Aloha #22
Have you heard of Moon Sand? The commercials on TV make this stuff out to sound fantastic and not messy at all. Oh yeah, my son loves it but the mess it makes. I am not a fan and my son doesn't know this but I scoop a little sand out of his container every now and then so that it is disappearing faster. He won't figure it out because a ton of it ends up all over the table and on the floor every time he plays with it. He already knows I am not buying any more.
My question this week:
What have you bought for your kids that you really wish you had never let them have?
Play along at An Island Life for Aloha Friday. In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response. If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at An Island Life. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

5 New Words That I Love
My 16 month old Thomas is really starting to build up his vocabulary with lots of new words every day. Here are 5 words that he uses regularly that I love hearing him say.
You can not be in the bathroom with out him pointing at the shelf where we keep the tooth brushes begging for his oow rush, oow rush. I think he brushes his teeth 10 times a day. LOL…
2. Hi
This one he has been saying for a while but just recently he says hi to everyone. In the grocery store the other day he was saying “hi” to everyone that went by. Then he found a lady that said hi back and he singled her out every isle we were in. It was funny! Just the other day he started saying hi in the car to anyone that we pass that is walking on the street. He doesn’t know they can’t hear him so he is chatting it up with everyone from point A to point B.
3. Nigh Nigh ~~ Night, Night
When we get ready for bed he knows it is night, night time and this is all he says until we head upstairs. If you tell him it is night, night time he runs to the gate at the bottom of the stairs and says nigh, nigh and points up the stairs. He knows.
4. Whaan ~~ want
This one is funny because you can’t be in the kitchen with out him pointing and demanding “wanting” something. We are working on the please and thank you but so far nothing on that end. We have the “whann” down pat.
5. Ickle, ickle, ickle ~~ Tickle, Tickle, Tickle
I love this one because if you could here it, it is too cute!! I would love to catch this one on tape but I don’t think I will because he would have to be off playing and not knowing that I am recording him. He does the same thing with doggy but it is oggy, oggy, oggy.
6. Sit
He knows this one so well because it is all he ever hears me telling him. Sit, sit down, sit… He is a monkey!!! The funny part is he knows he is supposed to sit and will tell himself to sit when he is standing. He has even told me to sit a few times.

Please Use The Parking Spots
Today I am pulling out my complaining hat. I don’t like to complain often because it isn’t worth the time and I know I should just forget it and move on but after this morning… I need to complain.
In the morning I drop my oldest off at the latch-key program at his elementary school. There are two lanes that lead to the parking lot in the back where the teachers park, one in and one out. Along the side of the driving paths there are three parking spaces along side the school. This is where parents park when they drop their kids off. Parents with young kids typically walk them in and parents with older kids typically just drop them off. My complaint is about the parents that drop their kids off. The three spaces are lined up like you are parallel parking and they are dipped back along the side walk, then at the end it dips back out into the two lanes. The parents who typically drop their kids off pull up to the end of the side walk, still in the driving lanes to drop their kids off instead of pulling into a parking space. This drives me nuts!! I might not get so mad if there are no open parking spaces or the kids are quick getting out of the cars. I don’t know about your kids but it takes for ever getting mine out of the car between backpacks, hats, gloves, school stuff, etc… it is never a quick in and out. I have also noticed it is the same way with these parents and their kids.
Case in point this morning, I am back in my car ready to pull out of my parking space and a parent pulls up to the end to drop off their child. Not only does she not pull into one of the two empty spots behind me but she doesn’t even get close to the curb but straddles the two driving lanes. Typically kid taking forever getting out of the car and I have to sit and wait. In my frustration, I put my car in reverse and back up and do a U-turn right from my parking spot instead of following the path to turn around like I should. I swear I deal with one of these parents every morning and it drives me nuts. Please, please tell my you are not one of these parents??? Do you deal with things like this when you take your kids places or pick them up?
I guess I just don’t understand the disrespect people have for others. It seems like this world is all about me,me,me and everyone else can take a leap. It seems like people should just take an extra second or two and do what is right and not necessarily what is more convenient for them. I can now step off of my soap box for today.

Motivate Me Monday
This week wasn’t a very good one for me. I worked out one time and that was it. I really wasn’t motivated and the day I did work out I did my legs and back. I did an hour of legs and back. I probably did a combination of 300 plus different types of squats and lungs. I hurt a lot for about three days and just couldn’t push myself to do anything else. I also spent a lot of time organizing and cleaning house this week so that got into my way. Yeah, I know it is just another excuse… LOL.
I did not do my Pilates like I wanted to. I know this is effective and why I don’t want to do it makes no sense to me.
I really want to kick it up a notch this week. My clothes are getting tighter and my eating habits are so bad right now. I need to really break myself of the bad eating habits. I bought a big bag of those Cadbury chocolate covered eggs and for two days I have eaten way to many of them. So last night I went to the grocery stocked up on healthy stuff and I have so much set in my mind to start doing.
First this weeks exercise goals:
1. More Pilates… I want that v-sit to be a little easier by the end of this week. (This was last weeks, but I am not taking it off)
2. I am going to do at least 20 minutes of abs every other day this week. I am sick of looking down at my baby belly. I am just over it.
3. I am also going to do 20 minute work outs each day. I keep think big work outs that take an hour or more and a little each day can also be a good thing.
4. I am also going to dig out my balance ball and try to use it a little more.
b. I will also use it for chest exercises. It is a more difficult type of bench to work out on.
Food goals:
1. More water… I did better this week but I could still do more.
2. No more buying chocolate. Think healthy snacks.
I have a tip for today. A great book I read about Fiber called The Fiber 35 Diet by Brenda Watson, it is full of wonderful advice on how to get enough fiber into your daily diet and what all the benefits are from that fiber. Great book!! Have any of you read a great book that has inspired you either to exercise or eat differently?
AS ALWAYS PLEASE WISH ME LUCK!! ALSO PLEASE GO VISIT VICKI AND WISH HER LUCK ALSO. SHE IS THE ONLY ONE PLAYING ALONG WITH ME AND I AM THANKFUL TO KNOW WE HAVE EACH OTHERS SUPPORT.
