The Poor Dogs & The Hair Cuts

As you all know my dogs went to the groomers yesterday. I will have to admit I might have gone over board when I said shave them down to the groomers. The lab looks great but my gold... hehe, she has no hair left. Oh except on her now very bushy looking tail.

This was our before photo!!
Mercedes after photo!! She looks wonderful and clean.

Lexis after photo!!
Yes she is supposed to be a Golden Retriever.
I said I went over board with the shave it all....hehe

What do you think of her tail?

I AM STILL LAUGHING TODAY OVER THIS ONE!!!

My husband does not think it is to funny.

Our Wild & Crazy Dogs

Before we had kids we had two dogs. These dogs are spoiled just like our children. We have Lexis our golden retriever and Mercedes is our yellow Labrador retriever. Yes I know my dogs are named after cars, my husbands doing. It is a miracle my kids aren’t also named after cars. I am shocked my boys are not named Audi, Saab or some other crazy car name.

Our dogs are spoiled just like the kids and treated just like big babies. However these big babies are the most destructive little monsters I know.

First there is Lexis our first born. She was the cute puppy that we always wanted. Or so we thought…hehe

I think this dog waits 30 seconds before we pull out of the driveway and she is off looking for trouble. She will take dishes out of the sink, off of the counter, chew up kids toys and eat anything that she can. We joke and say she has retractable paws because I don’t have a clue how she can reach half the stuff she manages to get. Just when you think it is put up…think again.

Last night we went to the grocery store and while we were gone someone didn’t close the cabinet door that holds the trash can. Trash was spread from the kitchen to the living room and everything from diapers to licked clean food packages were everywhere. The dog was no where to be found. She was hiding in the office under the desk. As I walked around calling for her I could here her tail flapping on the floor. She new she was in serious trouble.

The dog has a conscious about doing bad things but still does them anyway. You always know when she has done something bad because she will not greet you at the door when you come home if she has done something wrong. Instead you walk in and she is hiding under the dining room table flapping her tail waiting for her punishment.

Now Mercedes was not a planned dog. My in-laws lab got pregnant and we said we would take a puppy but only if she had a yellow female. Mom was chocolate and dad was a black lab. Of course she has 5 black puppies and one yellow female. Darn the luck! So we took her thinking it would be a good idea to give Lexis a play mate. If only I had known….

Mercedes is also the tattle tail for Lexis. When we get home we just know she is at the window barking and saying I didn’t do it. She did it and I am tattling now so that I don’t get into trouble also. It is funny to think what she is trying to tell us about Lexis.

Mercedes also thinks she is a cat. She is my 65 lb dog/cat. She climbs into people’s laps. She also gets on top of my dinning room table. Why she does this I will never understand. She also sleeps on the back of the couch just like a cat would. She must have been a cat in another life.

Mercedes also loves socks. She doesn’t chew up socks, she eats whole socks. The dog will eat mine and the kid’s socks in one swallow. The back yard is littered in socks as she deposits them into the yard. I spend a lot of money on socks. I think I buy a pack or two every couple months. We keep them picked up, and in the laundry but she still finds them and eats them. I think the kids can take off their socks and it can sit for two seconds and then she scoops it up and it is gone in one large gulp.

We always say we need to video tape them when we are not home. I could easily win America’s Funniest Home Videos with these two. That would be nice. Then they could repay me for all the money I have spent replacing shoes, socks, sippy cups, baby bottles, and toys over the past 7 years.

I am amazed they have survived the past 7 years. One because I have wanted to kill them on many occasions and the stuff they get into and eat can not be good for them. Of course you look at their cute faces and think how can I stay mad at them....

I could blog all day about my dogs and their bad habits. Do you have any pets? Do they have any bad habits? Are you willing to admit to their bad habits…LOL
