Going Back In Time

ALOHA FRIDAY # 24

As I listened to the radio I am listing to this great song and how it tells us “Your gona miss this and your gona want these days back”. I think back to how many times I remember wishing I was older or that I could do this or that and then my mom or dad would say those words. Telling me I don’t want to grow up to fast. Looking back now I totally agree and I find myself telling my son that he doesn’t want to grow up to fast as he is at the age where he is always saying when I get older….

My question this week…..

If you could go back in time and live through any part of your life again, where would you go and how old would you be?

If I could go back I would back myself up to about 9 years old. It would be summer time and I would be outside playing baseball with the neighborhood kids. We had a church parking lot on our block with an ally down the middle and we played baseball and raced our bikes down the ally, all summer long for years. It was mostly boys I played with but I had some of the best times of my life looking back at those summers. I can only hope my kids end up with summer time memories of their childhood that were as good as mine.

Play along at An Island Life for Aloha Friday. In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response. If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at An Island Life. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

My Best Friend

In my life I have had so many people that I though were my friends really cause me pain and push me right out of their lives. It is one of those things you often wonder what I did wrong, why do they not want to be a part of my life anymore. Often it was one of those things where they just stop communicating with you and it hurt. No reason, no explanation, they just shut me out. I would try and try to reach out and nothing. I finally hit a point in my life where really my only friends were my husband and my mom. It was really lonely not having a girlfriend but I just put up a wall because I had been hurt so many times and decided that I wasn’t going to be hurt anymore.

Then about 7 years ago I worked with this gal who befriended me. It wasn’t an instant friendship but it built up over time and we became so close. Today I call her my best friend and I couldn’t imagine not having her in my life. I trust her with everything. With that said here are 5 reasons why I love having her in my life and these are the reasons she is and will always be my best friend.

1. She loves my kids.
She loves kids and she treats mine like they were her own. She calls herself their Aunt and that is exactly what she is to my kids. She spoils them more than any of their real aunts ever would. She spoils them with gifts (that are not necessary), goes to soccer games, birthday parties and everything else that I ask her to attend. At one point Luke called her the present lady because every time we saw her she had a gift for him. Now he just gets excited to here he is going to see her. She plays with them and loves them as much as I do.

2. We are so much alike
We love the same things from talking about the kids, work, and family. We watch the same TV shows and end up texting each other in the evenings when we get excited over something we both know the other is watching.

3. Things we do
We live about 30 minutes from each other and work really far from each other. Since we live far apart we don’t get to do much together too often but when we do we have a really great time. We have gone to concerts together. A couple times each year we get manicures and pedicures together and that is always a fun time. We gab away the entire time and it goes so fast. We have gone on girl trips together. I remember our last trip it was just her and me in my car and our 6 hour drive to Tennessee felt like 5 minutes because we gabbed the time away. Can you tell we are gabby… lol

4. Sharing everything
I share all my thoughts and feelings with her. I can't think of anyone who knows me as well as she does.

5. We inspire each other.
She loves to shop; hand bags and shoes are her weakness. I am very frugal and debate over buying anything and often walk away with nothing. When we shop together she encourages me to splurge on myself and I help her behave and not go over board. LOL… It is funny to see us. She telling me “just buy it, when do you ever do anything for just you….” Then there is me “do you really need that? How many of those do you already have?” It is pretty funny!!! Now if she could just help me with my buyer’s remorse. We just bought new hand bags at a party and I am having major buyer remorse because I have never spent that much money on a purse.

I just hope nothing ever changes between us and someday we are 90 and still getting together to gab it up. LOL….

The photo is of me and her from one of our girl trips. We went to Tennesse in 2005.

Wordfull Wednesday

Today's wordfull Wednesday I have a video of Thomas. This is him enjoying his big brothers chocolate milk. Of course once I turned the camera on him he stopped doing the umm, ahh, yum, and keep saying eese (cheese).

Oh and don't mind my video skills. I am not use to doing video on the camera. Sorry!

Go visit Angie at 7 Clown Circus for more great Wordfull Wednesday post.

Mmm, ahh, Good Stuff

The other day I am sitting at my computer and Thomas comes in and sits down in the little recliner we have for the kids. I here him going.... mmm, ahh, mmm, ahh... and throw in a few lips smacks. I turn around to see what it is that has him mmm...and ahhing. He has found his big brothers chocolate milk from McD's. I don't let Thomas have chocolate milk so he has found a real treat and he really liked it. He threw a major fit when it was time for me to take it away from him.

He was a mess by the time I got around to taking this milk away from him. I laugh at this picture because he looks like such a slob, our bibs are two small and would not stay snapped on this day and of course we are wearing a lot of chocolate milk.

I video recorded some of this but when I turned the camera on him all I got was hi and eese (cheese) over and over again. So for now I am posting the photo's I took.

My video is 65 mb, can anyone tell me is that to big to load on here? I have never done video on here before. Do I need to change my camera settings so I don't get such big file sizes? I only recorded like 1 minute of video but the file is huge.

Motivate Me Monday

I have been extra busy the past couple weeks and I really haven't been doing much by way of exercising in the traditional sense. However I have been thinking a lot about the whole exercising thing. I nursed my son until he turned 14 months and I lost all the baby weight and then some. I weighed less at the end of his nursing than I had in years. Since I have stopped nursing I have added a little bit of weight back on. When our bodies are nursing we are burning more calories for baby but we do this all day long. This got me thinking maybe I am putting to much into lets work out for 1 hour and then we are done for the day. Instead I have been doing little bursts of physical activity all day long. I get my heart rate up for about 10 minutes and do it many times a day. I am going to take this approach just to see if I drop those couple extra pounds that I added after I stopped nursing. I still want to include some weight training to tone up but for the next two weeks I am really going to try to incorporate 5 or 6 10 minute mini work outs everyday. Lets just see what can happen in two weeks from doing this.

I have also been following my food journal very well and this really helps me keep my calories around 1500 a day. Plus if I get to the end of the day and am at my target I treat myself to a little bit of ice cream after the kids are in bed.

As always, wish me luck!!!

Motivate Me Monday's are posted every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month. Challenge yourself to something physical and join in the fun. It can be something simple like walking the block three times a week or you can be a little more crazy and really challenge yourself. Just have fun and get moving.
