Aloha Friday #8

Play along at An Island Life for Aloha Friday. In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response. If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at An Island Life. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

My question this week…..

Are you or did you go shopping today (Black Friday)? What was the best bargin you found?

I usually do not go shopping on this day but I went shopping early this week and was not happy with the deals so I decided I was going on Black Friday. As for a great deal... probably the winter coat I bought my son. I got 50% off and then another $10 off of that so an $80 coat cost me $30. The best store for deals was The Children's Place. They had some amazing sales and I got lots of great stuff for my kids. Yeah....

Happy Shopping!!!

My little climber

Thomas is my 12 month old. He started walking on his birthday. Well in a matter of weeks we have gone from walking to climbing. Climbing anything and everything he can. First I have a large tote next to my couch full of baby cloths. He climbs on top of the tote and then climbs up over the arm of the couch. This scared me to death and he thinks it’s a cute game. So after 20 or so times getting him down I put the tote on top of the chair. I smile at him and tell him I have out smarted him. Boy was I wrong!!! He smiles and goes over and grabs his little rocking chair and push it up to the chair that has the tote. Now he thinks he is going to climb onto his little chair, then up into the big chair and on top of the tote. But before he does all of that he has decided to stand in the little rocker and rock it back and forth. Seriously, I believe this child is trying to give me a heart-attack. The smile on his face says it all.

Fast forward a couple days and he has moved on to something new. His brother has a kid’s recliner in the toy room that he sits in to watch TV. Thomas now climbs into that chair and grabs everything he can off the desk and plays with the answering machine. I wouldn’t be surprised if you called my house you wouldn’t get baby jabber followed by a beep. It took me 20 minutes the other night to figure out where the noise was coming from as the machine was playing the 50 plus messages that I never delete off the answering machine. I was reliving the presidential election campaign all over again.

Anyway the other night Luke was sitting in the chair watching TV and this had Thomas ticked off. He kept pulling at Luke and screaming because he wanted to stand in the chair and play. I had to redirect this child 20 times. Finally all is calm. Mr. Engineer (hubby) gets Luke to take him to bed. They go walking through the room and Thomas looks up. All smiles he is walking to dad and Luke like he wants to go with them. Oh no, he rounded the couch and headed straight to that chair. The look on his face was priceless because he was so thrilled that his brother was not sitting in the chair no more. We all laughed because the boy has a one track mind. This kid is way to smart for his own good.

Now today I am sitting here at the computer while Thomas is tossing stuff off the desk from the chair and then I turn around for two seconds, turn back and he is sitting in the middle of the desk. He climbed on top of my desk. So now I have the chair turned around and shoved against the wall.
So at what age did your kids start climbing on things like little monkeys? My oldest was climbing at this age also but he started walking at 10 months so he was a lot more balanced.
