Dreams

Aloha Friday!

Dreams are one of those things that I will never understand. I find them to be a very strange phenomenon. I say this because I had a weird dream recently and no idea where any of it came from. I don’t want to share my dream but it was interesting that it included a very close friend of mine from when I was a kid and we were friends all the way up until we graduated from high school. He lives a couple states away and besides the occasional birthday message or email we don’t speak. We haven’t actually seen each other in 8 years.

I guess what I am saying is, I don’t understand why I had this dream or how my old friend ended up in this dream. I don’t remember having any thoughts or communication with him in a long time so what made my brain decide to put him into my dream. Also explain to me how my emotions and feelings in my dream were so real and so vivid to me. Even now as I write this I can remember the details of my dream and the feelings I experienced. Most dreams I forget 90% of the details almost instantly after I have awakened in the morning.

QUESTIONS:

Do you think dreams are purely random?

Do you think they are a deep manifestation of real feelings?

Have you had a dream that has freaked you out and makes you wonder where it came from?

I really question this because I am not sure. I want to say yes and no to both. I say that because I have had those psycho dreams before where someone is chasing you in the woods. Lol….Usually occurs after a stupid scary movie. It just seems like most of my dreams I can tie to something from my day. This particular dream I can’t tie to my day and I can’t explain the feelings or emotions or how real this particular dream felt. It just leaves me with questions of why.

Play along at An Island Life for Aloha Friday. If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at An Island Life.

I think that there are a lot of different types of dreams. Some dreams are our minds working out problems or things that concern us in our sleep. Some dreams I really do believe are warnings to teaching moments from God (think Joseph of Egypt and the dreams he was able to interpret). Some dreams are manifestations of anxieties. And some dreams are just random, I really think that.

I think that some dreams are random, but I also believe that some have meaning. In the Bible, God gave dreams to direct people, and I believe this can occur today. However, I'm not saying this is the case with all dreams.

Yes, yes and yes! Some times they can be so disturbing.

I think they do have some correlation to our lives. And heck yeah, I've been freaked out by a dream!

I rarely recall any of my dreams.

I think dreams are a combination of random and manifestations of real feelings.

In my family I'm known as the one that has crazy dreams. Oh some of the crazy dreams I could share. I actually try to write them in my journal so that I won't forget them. They're that crazy.

Not sure if dreams are random or not. I think there are definitely items that are in your mind/daily life that can make you more prone to certain dreams. I think perhaps they could have something to do with feelings. When I was pregnant and a child I often had dreams that freaked me out.

Interesting dream. I think your mind is letting you know that maybe you should contact him. Sometimes intuition can play a role in dreams, at least that is what I believe. I have had the scary dreams after the scary movie, and the bad dreams after eating dessert too late. Only a few dreams have been so vivid and real that I have woken up crying or in a panic. Aloha and take care.

Wow. I think dreams can be a bit of both really. I know--there are some that can really freak a person out like the jumping off a bridge ones.

Have a great Friday!

I think that dreams are linked to what you are feeling and thinking (even if you don't want to admit it !!!) My dreams are generally mellow, not the type that freak me out, but sometimes make me wonder what could I possibly be thinking or feeling to manifest this wacky dream ?!?!

My dreams have always been weird. And what's funny is sometimes they come true! So I would have to say 'yes' to all parts of your question! :-)

Dreams are very important. Many people don't put much stock in it and tries to explain it away, but this is how I feel.

I do think that some dreams are random and it depends on your state of mind...for instance I might have a great day and end up dreaming about that.

Here are a few of my experience. Before my mother found me before I left my country to come live in the US (I did not know my family at all. Never met them) My mother was still searching for me. During that last leg of the search my mother was getting sick with heartache that she would never find me. My sister had a dream that I was very close by but would start to go farther away soon. It was true. They found me within that week. And at the end of those 3 months I was migrating to the USA.

After I left and a few years have gone by. My mother and I developed a good relationship as best we could, my sister and other siblings, we didn't forge any sort of relationship and so didn't speak.
One night we both got the same exact dream. One of our cousins were missing (I've never met this cousin before and only met the aunt as a toddler) My mother had told me that they couldn't find the boy and I told her the dream I had and she almost fainted. She then told me that my sister had the very same dream in detail. Two days later they found the cousin the the same position with the same things that happened to him. That was horrifying.

Didn't want to dream after that one.

Before I got married too. I used to keep all my feelings inside. I never got angry. And if something happened, I'd just smile and say oh that doesn't bother me. Then I'd dream about what I should have said and done and did it in my dream and surprisingly felt better the next day etc. i don't know how that works or why? but it doesn't happen anymore now that I stand up for myself.

So I've had dreams that were warnings, predictions, or just letting me know what needs to be done etc and so I do think that dreams happens on every sphere.

Even God sometimes communicates through dreams.

So think on it and watch and see what way it reveals itself. Sometimes dreams are very clear...other dreams are just thoughtwaves keeping your night brain busy.

I don't really know how to answer this. I think that they are sometimes because of things you were thinking about but other times just very random. I don't know...I have some very off the wall dreams about people from my past that I never even think about but who knows.

I hate those kinds of dreams... where the emotion of the dream follows you through the day. I think our brains are pretty complex and there is so much information in there that sometimes, some random bit gets out and turns into a weird dream. I try not to read too much into it, but it's hard not to second guess myself (especially when I start dreaming about ex-boyfriends, ugh!)

I've always thought that dreams could tell us things about ourselves.

Like have you heard (or ever dreamed) that dreaming of your teeth falling out means you have too much stress going on in your awake like and you feel overwhelmed? I think there's some real truth in that dream analysis stuff. Fascinates me.
