Yesterday my husband and my 5 year old Luke went Christmas shopping. They went to buy gifts for me and for his little brother Thomas. That evening Eric brings in the packages and puts them into our office. Luke comes walking out holding up this little bag that says Kay Jewelers on it. He says to me, “mommy your present is in this little bag”. I start laughing so hard and then go tell my husband what he has done. Eric is all ticked off and yells at Luke for showing me the bag. I had to remind Eric Luke is 5 and doesn’t understand that if I read the name on the bag I am going to know I am getting a piece of jewelry for Christmas. So Eric tried to explain this to him that mommy has a pretty good idea what she is getting for Christmas now. Then Luke with a real serious face says to me, “mommy what you think is in that bag isn’t what is really in that bag.” I just smiled at him and laughed at my husband. Poor Luke just can’t wait for Christmas.
Now I have to be very patient and wait until Christmas to see what they bought me. So are you one who will snoop because you can’t wait to know or are you willing to wait and not peak at those gifts hidden around the house?

The Letter "M"
I read a post on Lynn's Life the yesterday and she was playing a game and invited anyone who wanted to play along to let her know. She had to name ten things she liked that started with the letter "B". She had a pretty great list so I decided it would give me something fun to blog about.
So I asked her to send me a letter. So she did and now I have to name ten things I love that start with the letter "M". I would first like to say this is a lot harder than it sounds. I was thinking of M and all that came to my mind was men. I love my husband but I don't love men. But now I have men stuck in my head and I am having a heck of a time getting it out of my head. After some serious thought I think I have come up with a list of ten things I love that start with the letter "M".
1. MUSIC... I love music. I couldn't go through my life with out it. I can live with out TV, the computer but not music. I think music moves the soul and can often inspire us. I have the radio on all the time, in the car, at work and even right now I am enjoying the Christmas music.
2. MOOSE... no not the animal but the chocolate kind. I could indulge in chocolate moose all day long.
3. MONEY... that is a given. I am not a materialistic person but I do like to have money. I use to have a lot more of it before I had two kids. Now I tend to spend all my money on my boys.
4. MOVIES... I enjoy a good movie every now and then. I don't usually get to enjoy them in the theaters but I will sit and watch them on TV at home. I sat and watched EDTV yesterday. It was a cute movie that I had never seen.
5. MAY... the month of course. I love May because it is the month where the weather really starts to warm up and the flowers are popping up everywhere, everything is really starting to turn green and it just makes me a happier person. Is it May yet....
6. MAGAZINE... I could curl up on the coach with a good magazine and read it cover to cover, if the kids are asleep. I enjoy fitness magazines and parenting magazines. They give me ideas and sometimes motivate me to do something.
7. MY MERCURY... OK this is probably not something I truly love but I do like my Mercury Mariner SUV. It has been a good car and it is great for hauling things around.
8. MAROON FIVE... on of my favorite bands. I love their sound and I still listen to them even though I listen to country music pretty much all the time now.
9. MINTS... I could snack on sweet mints all day long. I will probably not have any teeth when I get older but I love to chew on mints.
10. MARRIAGE... it isn't always a joy and we don't always get along but I do love being married to my husband. I have 10 years of it so far and I pray for many more to come.
So that is my list and I have to say some of those took me a while to come up with. So if you feel like making a list let me know and I will send you a letter so that you can play along.

Aloha Friday #8
Play along at An Island Life for Aloha Friday. In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response. If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at An Island Life. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!
My question this week…..
Are you or did you go shopping today (Black Friday)? What was the best bargin you found?
I usually do not go shopping on this day but I went shopping early this week and was not happy with the deals so I decided I was going on Black Friday. As for a great deal... probably the winter coat I bought my son. I got 50% off and then another $10 off of that so an $80 coat cost me $30. The best store for deals was The Children's Place. They had some amazing sales and I got lots of great stuff for my kids. Yeah....
Happy Shopping!!!

My little climber
Thomas is my 12 month old. He started walking on his birthday. Well in a matter of weeks we have gone from walking to climbing. Climbing anything and everything he can. First I have a large tote next to my couch full of baby cloths. He climbs on top of the tote and then climbs up over the arm of the couch. This scared me to death and he thinks it’s a cute game. So after 20 or so times getting him down I put the tote on top of the chair. I smile at him and tell him I have out smarted him. Boy was I wrong!!! He smiles and goes over and grabs his little rocking chair and push it up to the chair that has the tote. Now he thinks he is going to climb onto his little chair, then up into the big chair and on top of the tote. But before he does all of that he has decided to stand in the little rocker and rock it back and forth. Seriously, I believe this child is trying to give me a heart-attack. The smile on his face says it all.
Fast forward a couple days and he has moved on to something new. His brother has a kid’s recliner in the toy room that he sits in to watch TV. Thomas now climbs into that chair and grabs everything he can off the desk and plays with the answering machine. I wouldn’t be surprised if you called my house you wouldn’t get baby jabber followed by a beep. It took me 20 minutes the other night to figure out where the noise was coming from as the machine was playing the 50 plus messages that I never delete off the answering machine. I was reliving the presidential election campaign all over again.
Anyway the other night Luke was sitting in the chair watching TV and this had Thomas ticked off. He kept pulling at Luke and screaming because he wanted to stand in the chair and play. I had to redirect this child 20 times. Finally all is calm. Mr. Engineer (hubby) gets Luke to take him to bed. They go walking through the room and Thomas looks up. All smiles he is walking to dad and Luke like he wants to go with them. Oh no, he rounded the couch and headed straight to that chair. The look on his face was priceless because he was so thrilled that his brother was not sitting in the chair no more. We all laughed because the boy has a one track mind. This kid is way to smart for his own good.
Now today I am sitting here at the computer while Thomas is tossing stuff off the desk from the chair and then I turn around for two seconds, turn back and he is sitting in the middle of the desk. He climbed on top of my desk. So now I have the chair turned around and shoved against the wall.
So at what age did your kids start climbing on things like little monkeys? My oldest was climbing at this age also but he started walking at 10 months so he was a lot more balanced.
