Luke is in kindergarten and I am so impressed with where he started this year and how far he has come. Since around Christmas time Luke has been bringing home these writing projects. They tell a story and draw a picture to go with the story. They have a wall of letters and letters that are put together that make certain sounds that they can use as a guide for their writing project but it is up to them to write everything out.
When they started these we got a lot of stories about dogs just because that was a word he could spell along with a lot of his other words that he has learned this year.
This paper came home yesterday and I just love it. He has really stepped out on a limb and tried to put together some big words. So he spelled them wrong, still a fantastic attempt.
Luke's version of what it say's: A penuin is cocen hambrgrs on wodr.
Translated correctly: A penguin is cooking hamburgers on water.
This makes a mother so proud.

His printing is amazing for kindergarten. MY first grader doesn't write that neatly.
Complete with illustrations too - very impressive! You have every right to be proud.
Little things in life!
Ha!!! I love it!!! :o)
Hehe that is so cute! Love the drawings too. =)
Wow- that is REALLY impressive! such neat handwriting for a Kindergartner!
That is so sweet. I saved a lot of these from when my kids were little. Great to look back on years later.
That is REALLY good! He uses a lot of detail and his penmanship is so neat. His picture has a lot of details. I love the creative spelling! I really love these types of writing projects by kids. They really are my favorite!
I love it!! I have a prom picture w/ my husband at his Senior Ball in 1989!! LOL! I will post that later on too!! :)
That's a great picture! Thank you so much for joining in this week!!!!
Oh..and I have to say, that is awesome about your son! Very smart!!!!
That is so great!! I love it!! I love the 'cocen' - isn't it funny how they try to spell out words.
OMG, I just remembered a hilarious story that I know you would appreciate. Josh, when he was in kindergarten, was told to cut out a picture from a magazine and glue it to a page and write something about the picture. He chose a snake. Under the snake, he wrote, "I like sex". I liked to have died. But, I guess if you do try and sound out snakes, it could come out like s-e-x to a 5 year old. HAHA The teacher never said a word to me about it. Not sure if she ever even noticed it, because his writing was pretty small. Of course, I put it up and still have it to this day!! =)
That is so cute! It'll be so fun for you to watch his writing skills develop!
